API Platform Update: Zero Downtime Deployment, New Analytics Dashboards, Email Reports . . .

Apigee Product Team
Sep 17, 2013

Today we released a scheduled update for Apigee Enterprise, the digital business platform used by enterprises like Walgreens, eBay, and AT&T that can be used for free at apigee.com.

Here are some of the key new features and improvements included in this update.

Gateway Services

Zero Downtime API Proxy Deployment

To ensure continuous operation and improved SLAs, you can deploy a new version of an API bundle without the need to un-deploy the existing version first. This update bolsters our multi-tenant and high availability capabilities with some of the following key benefits:

  • Update your API Proxy versions with no interruptions to traffic on those APIs

  • Improve the SLAs you offer to your API consumers

  • Avoid planned outages or maintenance windows related to API revisions or upgrades

Analytics Services

Dashboards

We’ve completely revamped the Analytics dashboards to provide a holistic view of your mobile value chain powered by apps, data and APIs:

  • Measure and monitor not just API program traffic, but also developer activity

  • Using the top-level dashboard, get a bird’s eye view of the API Traffic & Errors, developers segmented by activity, and top developer apps

  • Assess your Developer and Partner Engagement--a key dimension of your API program--right on the top level dashboard

For more information, see the Apigee documentation:

Daily Analytics Email Reports

Share the results of your mobility and API programs with daily email reports that provide information about the health of your apps and APIs:

  • App and API quality-of-service (QoS)  statistics, traffic counts, error counts, and change notifications for significant changes in traffic patterns

  • Apps registered, active developers, apps active, traffic metrics, response times

  • Recipients are members of the Operations and Organization Administrators groups and can opt out

Filters in Custom Reports

You can filter content in custom reports against any column in the analytics database using matching, text, and expressions. Some key benefits are:

  • Increased ease of use and accuracy of reporting

  • Improved reporting UI enhanced to provide on-demand report extension across metrics, dimensions, and filters

For details on adding filters to custom reports, see the Apigee documentation:
http://apigee.com/docs/enterprise/content/build-custom-reports

Custom report filters

Metrics by URI

The Analytics Services reports now include traffic, error, and performance metrics for each URI path. Metrics are gathered based on the patterns you identified and created. As a result, you can:

  • Identify and create specific patterns that the API program manager would like to track

  • Filter and isolate the key metrics of interest
