This summer, AT&T* is inviting software developers across the country to hack their way in to new ideas at a series of one-day “Hackathons.” At the events, currently scheduled in cities around the country, experienced coders will come together to learn about new technologies, collaborate and create innovative mobile applications. AT&T customers will benefit by getting quicker access to the best new and enhanced apps that emerge from the AT&T Mobile Hackathons.
Apigee has introduced a new application programming interface (API) management system that recognizes the reality that many purchases may soon be initiated from laptops, tablets, and smartphones. It's geared to work with the transaction processing systems in the data center to ensure that only compliant credit card transactions take place through the API.

Apigee (previous CloudAve coverage), the API management company formerly known as Sonoa Systems, yesterday launched PCI-Compliant API management solution in the cloud. As we move into an increasingly platform based world where APIs are the key, the next important issue we, as an industry, have to tackle is security. When we talk about security, sooner than later, we are confronted with the issue of compliance.

Announced this week, Apigee Enterprise Cloud PCI is a new offering designed to provide transactional APIs for deployment on a public cloud. Apigee asserts that this is the only cloud-based API management tool on the market that supports full compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
Apigee – a Silicon Valley startup offering various tools for managing and using APIs across the interwebs – has announced a new online service for providing financial-transaction APIs that comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS).
Getting well-designed and well-managed application programming interfaces into the marketplace for developers to use may be just as important as having a corporate website, agreed a panel at the cloud-oriented Structure 2011 show Thursday in San Francisco.
In 1975, the never-modest Barry Manilow sang, “I write the songs that make the whole world sing.” The 100 companies, organizations and projects recognized in the 2011 SD Times 100 may not be particularly musical (well, Amazon and Apple make billions selling tunes), but they write the code that makes the whole software-development industry succeed.

Apigee, the leading provider of API products and services, have announced the Apigee API Delivery Network, a new offering that can accelerate the global delivery of data and web services to mobile devices by 10 times their original speed.
Apigee – a company dedicated to improving the use of APIs across the interwebs – has unveiled an API delivery network designed to grease API calls in much the same way a CDN smooths the transfer of images and other net content. This API delivery network is now available as part of the existing enterprise API services that Apigee offers to to businesses interested in exposing application programming interfaces to mobile and web developers across the globe.
A content delivery network (CDN) is fine for distributing the data from a Web page but the advent of a new programming interface will help create a new method for pushing data to the edge of the network.
