Apigee Appoints Michael Gardner Vice President of Engineering and Operations

PALO ALTO, CA--(Marketwire - Dec 21, 2011) - Apigee, the leading provider of API management products and services, today announced that Michael Gardner, a seasoned technology leader with deep cloud platform operational expertise, has joined the company as vice president of engineering and operations. At Apigee, Gardner is responsible for establishing and driving the technical vision for the company's leading API (application programming interface) management solutions and developer tools, as well as its network operations and support.

Gardner spent the last decade working on software-as-a-service (SaaS) product lines and business models, with a focus on e-commerce and optimizing cloud-based technologies for maximum availability and reliability. Most recently, he was vice president of products at Ketera Technologies (acquired by Rearden Commerce), where he led a team that reinvented the model for business-to-business e-commerce. Prior to Ketera, Gardner led technical teams developing the Liveops' cloud-based call center telephony platform, as vice president of engineering. Before Liveops, Gardner served as director of development at eBay, where he ran the e-commerce giant's search technology group, led a program that converted nearly the entire eBay codebase from C++ to Java, and directed eBay's software development efforts in India. Gardner spent the beginning of his career leading teams working on programming tools and compilers for database centric languages, including nearly ten years at Borland.
