Apigee today announced that William, “BJ” Jenkins, president and CEO of Barracuda Networks, has joined its board of directors. Jenkins, a veteran of the IT industry, joins Apigee’s board as the company experiences high growth and expands globally to meet demand for Apigee's platform that empower organizations to create digital businesses built on apps, data and APIs.
“We are extremely pleased that BJ will be contributing to the vision and direction of Apigee at a time of explosive growth for the company and the app economy,” said Chet Kapoor, Apigee CEO. “BJ has broad management experience with exceptional operational insight, and he will be a valuable addition to our board as we aggressively expand Apigee’s reach to new markets.”
Prior to joining Barracuda Networks last year, Jenkins was president of EMC’s Backup Recovery Systems (BRS) division. He joined EMC in 1998 and held a wide range of senior leadership roles before becoming president of the EMC BRS division. This included serving as chief of staff, where he led the highly successful post-merger integration of Data Domain as the foundation for the newly formed division. Under his leadership, EMC’s BRS division contributed significantly to the company’s growth. Over the years, Jenkins has also held the positions of senior vice president of Global Marketing; vice president of Telecom, Media and Entertainment and Outsourcing Sales; vice president of Global Field Marketing and director of Operations Global Channels. Jenkins is a graduate of the University of Illinois and received his MBA from the Harvard Business School.
