Your API BaaS application includes the concepts of users and groups. By including data about your app's users in your API BaaS data store, you can:
- Enhance your application's security by assigning permission rules to users or groups of users.
- Connect users to each other and other data in your application, creating associations that make using your app a richer and more personalized experience.
Users represent people that your application is aware of, typically because they've registered for an account. Groups represent a way for you to group users so that you can more easily assign a set of permissions to multiple users at once (see App security for more information).
Users and groups are both represented in the API BaaS data store as User and Group entities (for reference information, see Default Data Entities). Each of the API BaaS SDKs provides methods specifically designed to make working with users and groups easier. You can also create users and groups using the admin portal's Users section.
