The Digital Accelerator Interview: Kin Lane, API Evangelist

Feb 12, 2015

API evangelist Kin Lane sat down with us at I ♥ APIs 2014 to discuss a wide landscape of API topics, ranging from the importance of making back-end APIs as openly licensed as possible to university students hacking APIs.

But one of the most important topics for the future of API communities is sharing stories about the trials, tribulations, and success of building APIs, he said.

"I want more stories about what people are doing," Lane said. "We need more stories about why this is working, how it is working, what it did for us internally, what it did with our partner relationship, what it did with our public relationship.

"That's part of the API ethos that people need to realize," he added. "Sure, your back-end APIs can be protected, but storytelling is an important piece. So many people I talk with need examples to get their executives on board."
