API Infrastructure Security

As customers move between the web, mobile devices, and sensors in the Internet of Things, APIs are critical to your enterprise and your IT organization. They open the doors for collaboration and innovation inside and outside the enterprise, and make it easy to integrate the customer experience across channels.

Apps and data are becoming more broadly accessible than they were when housed in private data centers.[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_original","fid":"19631","attributes":{"alt":"","class":"media-image","height":"565","style":"width: 320px; height: 213px; float: right; margin: 12px 6px;","typeof":"foaf:Image","width":"849"}}]]

So the challenge for IT organizations is securely exposing functionality to be consumed by developers and partners, some who you don't yet know. And IT still needs to fulfill its primary mandate: to provide world-class security and protection for a company’s systems and for company and user data.

Comprehensive data security has to protect the whole digital value chain, from apps to APIs to back-end services. API security, and the security of the infrastructures the APIs are running on is critical to an enterprise that is exposing digital assets.

At Apigee, we’ve built deep expertise and understanding of IT security strategies and we are pleased to announce that Robert (Bob) Lentz, the former Chief Information Assurance Officer (CIAO) for the U.S. Department of Defense, has joined the Apigee advisory board.  Bob's insight and counsel to Apigee on IT security strategies is critical to help ensure the continued strength of our platform.

Over the years, Apigee has taken many steps to ensure the security of its products and operations, such as obtaining important standardized security certifications and undergoing security audits including SOC 2, PCI-DSS, and HIPAA for its cloud offering. The company has a bottom-up approach to embedding security across its stack into products, server hosting models, and network operations, and I look forward to helping ensure the continued strength of the Apigee API platform. ~Bob Lentz
