New Mobile Identity Validation Solution Enhances MWC Experience
One year ago at Mobile World Congress 2013, the GSMA announced the OneAPI Exchange powered by Apigee, a new model for API interoperability. The OneAPI Exchange has been undertaken with leading mobile operators including AT&T, Deutsche Telekom, Orange and Vodafone to dramatically simplify and accelerate the development of telco API-powered apps in a global marketplace.
At this year’s Mobile World Congress, which kicks off today in Barcelona, we are proud that the power of a OneAPI Exchange app can be seen in production through the new mobile identity validation feature in the NFC Badge application.
Announced last week by the GSMA, this year’s event badge application enables customers of Bouygues Telecom, Bharti Airtel, Dialog, Du, Etisalat, KT Corp., Orange, Tata and Telstra to streamline their entry into Mobile World Congress by using their mobile operator credentials to confirm their identity. This enables validation of the NFC Badge before attendees arrive at the event, eliminating the need to show identity documents for entry. Apigee is providing the underlying API platform that enables the secure sharing of operator identity information as well as cross-operator interoperability via the GSMA OneAPI Exchange.
We look forward to another exciting week at Mobile World Congress 2014 as we continue our partnership with the GSMA to deliver new network capabilities to mobile apps such as the mobile identity solution at this year’s event.
