Growing online gaming company accelerates app development with Apigee's platform for apps, data and APIs
Apigee, the API company, and the Gamesys Group, a leading online gaming company based in Europe, today announced that Gamesys has selected Apigee Enterprise to accelerate app development and scale to meet the demands of its expanding global business. With over 400 developers working with its online gaming platform, Gamesys adds to the growing list of industry-leading businesses that are leveraging Apigee to improve development efficiencies, increase reach, and provide new opportunities for growth through apps, data and APIs.
Gamesys operates the UK’s leading bingo and slots website Jackpotjoy.com and other brands, such as The Sun Bingo and Caesars Casino, in addition to developing its own social gaming properties. Earlier this year, Gamesys launched a new Facebook app called ‘Bingo Friendzy,’ that lets UK users aged 18 and over to play an online game for real cash prizes.
"Restful HTTP APIs are a fundamental part of the Gamesys architecture, so it was essential that we choose a partner that shared the same passions as we do," said Tom Hillary, CTO of Gamesys Group. "One thing that strikes you early on when talking to Apigee is they really get APIs and are not steeped in legacy web services history. Apigee practices what they preach too. This is evident when you first install the product and see their own Restful management APIs are used during the install.
"Working with Apigee has allowed Gamesys to concentrate on its own domain whilst they take care of some of the vital plumbing. Apigee, for us, is also much more than a platform. They are thought leaders in API management space and give us invaluable advice on how to embrace the App Economy," continued Hillary.
Through Apigee Enterprise, Gamesys is making it easier and more efficient for developers to build powerful games using Gamesys services delivered through APIs. Gamesys is leveraging Apigee to drive new cross-company development efficiencies and deliver new capabilities to gaming customers. In addition, Apigee will serve as a key enabler as Gamesys expands its business into new markets by allowing the company to easily expose their APIs to external partners around the world.
“Today’s developers are under an increasing amount of pressure,” said Jeremy Perlman, managing director EMEA, Apigee. “Fundamentally, Gamesys chose to work with Apigee because they want their developer teams to focus on what they do best -- developing innovative games that attract new users -- and letting us focus on the API platform.”
Apigee's flagship offering is Apigee Enterprise, a complete platform for creating, managing and measuring digital initiatives built on apps, data and APIs. Apigee also offers Insights, a powerful big data analytics platform that helps organizations gain new business insights in the app economy; and the Apigee API Exchange, an API interoperability platform that powers app ecosystems across any industry.
